About APRICO / What / The Problem and the solution

The problem.

Quite often it is difficult to find the kind of programs you like. The content explosion of video entertainment coming from broadcast networks, the Internet and Video-on-Demand libraries makes it difficult to enjoy TV in the way it is delivered to the user today.

Frustrated zapping?.

What is supposed to be a relaxing evening in front of the TV often turns into a frustrated zapping session, browsing through the ever-growing program guides (paper, electronic and online) or menus on complex devices. This complexity also increases the likelihood that users miss the programs they were looking for.

Endless menus.

Of course, there are devices which try to deliver the increasing wealth of content to the user, but they are often too complex. Endless menus mean viewers have to put in a lot of effort to find what they like. For people to enjoy content at their moment of choice, they often have to program their devices. On top of this, they have to manage their content (e.g. recording, deleting), or worse, actively search for the content they are really interested in.

Broadcast and broadband content.

Internet and Video-on-Demand libraries complicates the problem even more. These days, it is more difficult for the user to find programs on top of the growing numbers of traditional channels. This problem will only grow in the future, making it harder for viewers to find their favorite shows.

APRICO is the solution.

APRICO makes it possible for users to enjoy all available content in a very simple way

"Enjoy your personal channels"

With APRICO, viewers can define their own channels filled with personal content. APRICO finds, filters and delivers the broadcast, Internet and VoD content the viewer likes. Viewers specify their APRICO channels and APRICO automatically fillsthem with the content of their choice. (To learn how this works, please see 4 ways to add an APRICO Channel).

APRICO channels appear to the user as traditional TV channels, and are added to the existing line-up of broadcast channels in the carousel (see example picture below). This concept has been proven, and the related technology tested and optimized in a field trial in European households over the past two years.
