How to add APRICO Channels?
Users can choose their level of interaction when creating new personal APRICO channels on a device or service personalized by APRICO. There are four possible ways to do this:
- By using a 'seed program'
- By specifying a channel yourself
- By selecting a channel from the gallery
- By sharing with friends or downloading them (future option)
Using a "seed program"
This is the easiest and most commonly used way to add APRICO channels. With just one click on the remote control, you can create an APRICO channel by using a "seed program". Simply press the "add" button while watching a program. The metadata of this particular program is then used to create a profile of the new personal channel. The APRICO engine now fills the personal APRICO channel and shows, and suggests all the programs with the similar characteristics.
Specifying a channel
More advanced users can also create their own channel profile by entering specific characteristics like genre, language, sources, actors, etc. The APRICO engine takes all these preferences into account when creating the channel profile and intelligently shows desired programs and suggests similar programs based on these characteristics.
E.g. When a specific actor is entered, the APRICO channel includes all movies/programs which feature this particular actor.
Select from a gallery
It is also possible to select an APRICO channel from a gallery of existing channel profiles. The gallery can contain different types of channels such as a pre-installed movie channel on a particular device, a branded channel defined by an advertiser, or an editorial channel which contains editorial content suggestions or content provided by a community.
Share channels
It is also possible to share channels with friends or within communities. For example, if a friend has a channel you are interested in, he can simply share his channel profile with you via email or any other communication medium. In the future it will also be possible to upload and download channels to community sites. Here, you can simply choose from, and subscribe to, channels made by other people you know and trust.
